The Heartbeat of Missions in the Mountains

Church Planting Network

Special Opportunity for Church Planting:

Hello, I'm Craig Bailey, Director of Missions for Buncombe Baptist Association.  As an old church planter, I'm happy to announce the WNC Church Planting Network for all church planters in our region.  We meet the second Thursday of the month for encouragement, equipping, prayer and support.  All church planters are welcome, regardless of your affiliation.  Our group is sponsored by the Buncombe Baptist Association and the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina.

Watch this page for updates on new church plants and the format/time of our monthly meetings.  Our purpose is to encourage church planters as they give birth to vibrant, new congregations to reach our people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Let me introduce you to our leaders:

Steve Harris, Pastor of New Life Community Church is pictured here with Mark Houghton and Kurt Hannah.  Steve and Ann planted New Life Community and have since supported and/or partnered with many other church plants.  He leads our Church Planting and Membership Team.

Scott Shields serves on staff at North Asheville Baptist Church and is our Partnership Missions Team Leader.  Pastor Jim Dykes and the staff at North Asheville have taken the lead in creating a church planting environment.  Currently working with church plants in three states, NABC has a goal to plant 20 churches that will plant 20 churches by 2020.

Our next meeting will be in August.  Send an e-mail to cbailey@buncombebaptist.org and we will get your name on our notification list for upcoming meetings.

We are currently seeking volunteers, ages 16 and up, for Internship Opportunities for the church planting ministry of North Asheville Baptist Church

The Need:

CPnet is a non-profit ministry founded by North Asheville Baptist Church to equip church planting teams with the tools and resources needed for success. The CPnet structure provides direct support to church planters in the following ministry areas:  administration, legal and financial management, facility selection / acquisition, website development, technical & graphical design, music & worship planning, creation of lifegroups, children’s ministry, community outreach programs, and family relations ministries. The goal is to create a robust virtual library with valuable tools, resources, and information to assist multiple church planting teams reproduce around the world.

The Assignment:

Interns will be volunteers and will be assigned to a CPnet ministry director. Their initial function will be to gather information specific to their assigned ministry area by interviewing experienced ministry leaders, identifying and gathering printed material, and locating online resources. This information will be assembled into a common format for review and edit by the ministry director and will then be assembled into a web based platform by the webmaster. This library of resources will be an invaluable tool to the CPnet team and the church planters, and depending upon various needs that develop in the future, there may be additional opportunity for intern’s advancement in one or more ministries supported by CPnet.

The Candidate:

A CPnet intern will be a growing Evangelical Christian with a heart to serve Jesus Christ and a desire to fulfill God’s purpose for his or her life.
