When a lot of people think about prayer, they think about a giant list of things they want to ask God to do for them. Maybe they think of those long prayers that they memorized as a child. But prayer is much more than that!

Prayer is one of the most fulfilling aspects of Christian life. It is a two-way conversation; it is us talking to God and Him talking to us. It is a privilege to be able to talk to our Heavenly Father. You cannot afford to be too busy to pray because a prayerless Christian is a powerless Christian. When someone asks you to pray for them, try to stop what you are doing right then and say a prayer because if you don’t it’s so easy to forget about it a few hours later.

1 Thessalonians 5:17 tells us to “pray without ceasing.” Jesus states in John 14:13-14, “Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.”

Jesus taught us to pray in Matthew 6:5-15. God acts when we pray — and He can do more in ten seconds than we can in ten years.

Take some time to listen to God, don’t do all the talking. “Be still and know that I am God.”

Prayer doesn’t change God….it changes ME. Take time today to “place yourself in the hands of God” and allow Him to change you.
